AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY
Royal Australian Air Force: Air Power Conference 2018
Venue: National Convention Centre Canberra
Over 1300 delegates from national and international Air Forces and other military services, government, defence industry, academia and think tanks descended upon Canberra from 20 – 21 March for the event. The theme for this year's Royal Australian Airforce 2018 Air Power Conference was ‘Air Power in a Disruptive World’. Staging Connections were the chosen audio visual and theming providers with a specific brief to create a unique statement piece that would work in with the “world” and digital theme of the conference. A dominating 13m wide projection screen brought the conference program to life, with a 3m diameter globe suspended dramatically from the ceiling delivering on the global theme.
The conference content was also live-streamed to the Convention Centre theatre foyer and the VIP area, enabling networking opportunities and session breaks to come complement the theme. Four gobos projected ‘flying’ aircrafts onto the ground and either side of the stage.
Crown Melbourne Chinese New Year
Venue: Palladium, Crown Melbourne
Each year, Crown Melbourne invite selected guests to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a special event. In February, 100 guests were invited to welcome the Year of the Dog at the Palladium, Crown Melbourne.
The Staging Connections team were tasked with transforming the venue into a unique, yet traditional Chinese New Year celebration. The team collaborated closely with Crown Melbourne to amplify their selected entertainment and integrate this aspect into the production and theming, including audio visual, styling and multimedia.
In planning the styling of the event, Staging Connections began with the traditional Chinese colours of red and gold and worked to ensure the room was notably different to previous years as the guest list included a lot of regular attendees.
Event styling was an integral element – guests entered the Palladium and were transported to a traditional Chinese festival with luxurious modern touches. Welcomed with a floating banner installation, the red carpet guided guests past an illuminated custom-printed media wall towards the ballroom.
The walls of the Palladium were shrouded in gold liquid drapery, lit by floor-mounted moving lights to emphasise the luxurious, silken materials. Floor-to-ceiling red translucent banners depicting the Year of the Dog celebrations stood out against the golden backdrop and tables were set in a lucky-horseshoe configuration, each with its own intricate ‘floating’ centrepiece.

The evening was hosted by Brisbane Airport Corporation, Brisbane Marketing, Tourism Australia and Tourism Events Queensland and held at Brisbane's City Hall. Brisbane Airport Corporation engaged Staging Connections to produce the Networking Evening for 850 guests. The Staging team designed and supplied audio visual, styling and multimedia content for the event and provided onsite stage management to ensure the smooth operations at the venue.

Australasian Hotels Industry Conference and Exhibition 2017
Venue: Grand Hyatt Melbourne
Staging Connections Melbourne were recently engaged by Interpoint Events – a division of Intermedia to deliver the audio visual and digital technology for the Australasian Hotels Industry Conference and Exhibition (AHICE) held at Grand Hyatt Melbourne. As the chosen in-house event services provider, our local team were able to provide a complete event staging solution consisting of audio, projection, staging, styling and event technology. A stand out for the event was the inclusion of our audience engagement technologies including Cumulus, an event app with all the event information, Event Poll, which was used to facilitate the Q&A component generating conversations between the presenters and the audience, Event Feed, which displayed up to the minute posts on Social Media. The platforms were a huge success providing discussion topics during networking sessions and attendee posts had the #AHICE2018 hashtag trending nationally.
Interpoint Events moderated the responses to ensure the discussion stayed on track and asked the questions that everyone was thinking. One of the benefits of using a platform like Event Poll, is the client was able to keep the all the incoming questions for post event communications and planning of the event for the following year.
Lara Chrystal, Marketing Manager of Interpoint shared,
“We loved the new app because it provided a level of interactivity between the floor and the speakers never achieved before. It took audience engagement at our event to a new level.”
