Staging Connections showcases Gold Coast as event leaders
Staging Connections created an exciting festival atmosphere using the latest AV technologies to immerse approximately 100 conference decision-makers, including PCOs, corporate buyers, media and suppliers, in everything the Gold Coast has to offer at the ‘This is Gold Coast Business Exchange’ (TIGC17).
Staging Connections worked across several events, in conjunction with the Gold Coast Business Events team, creating a welcoming, convivial environment for delegates that would promote the capabilities of the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove. A vision and lighting experience captured the essence of the Commonwealth Games theme, using green and gold lights, projection mapping and an inspiring stage design to host speakers including Beach Volleyball Olympic Medallist guest speaker, Natalie Cook.
The stunning Fountain Terrace at the InterContinental was transformed using lights with a colour changing chase elegantly leading delegates down the path to the one-acre beach lagoon pool where the main reception was held. Upon entry to the lagoon pool, delegates were greeted with a spectacular jetski and jetpack show that was amplified by an impactful sound and lighting display. The event even includes a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky, timed perfectly to music for maximum impact.
In a first for the venue, Staging Connections utilised 2 x 16K projectors for the unique projection mapping across the sandy lagoon shore. Country flags were projected onto the sand, ensuring delegates were walking on, through and under this timely theme.
Sea World Resort showcased their spacious new Plaza and incredible Dolphin Beach. Staging Connections created an exciting festival atmosphere for these venues through the use of colourful lighting and sound systems suitable for outdoor events.
Designed by Staging Connections’ Technical Director, this extensive lighting display was accompanied by an impressive audio system designed to overcome the challenges of delivering crisp, high-quality sound outdoors.
Anna Case, Director of Business Events, Gold Coast Tourism Corporation, highlighted the success of the event year-on-year, and its value to the local business event economy.
“Last year the Gold Coast Business Exchange brought in over $13.5 million worth of leads for the local economy. This year was all about showcasing the Gold Coast as a leader in the business events sector, highlighting the latest AV capabilities, world-class venues and demonstrating why the Gold Coast won the bid for the 2018 Commonwealth Games,” said Ms Case.
Tim Stewart, Technical Director, Staging Connections, commented on the lighting and audio used across the venues and what that meant for the success of the event.
“We used an extensive array of intelligent lighting and audio systems across the venues. Projection mapping is becoming more popular, with more complex briefs from the client; it is an exciting challenge to adapt the technology to work uniquely for each event.
“The team really came together to deliver a cohesively themed event across all the venues, delivering on all client demands,” said Mr Stewart.
Staging Connections’ Event Manager and Technical Director worked closely with the Venue Conference and Events Director to bring to life the clients’ vision for the event. A talented onsite AV Staging Connections team consisting of a Technical Director, Lighting Designer and Audio Technician then executed the plan to successfully deliver the audio and vision for the highly anticipated ‘This is Gold Coast Business Exchange’ for the third consecutive year.
