Staging Connections delivers Amway Taiwan’s Sydney extravaganza
On Sunday 27 March, the Staging Connections NSW team delighted 1,150 Amway Taiwan VIPs with a breathtaking, Australian-themed gala dinner as the pinnacle event of the 5 day major Asian incentive. The incentive gave Staging Connections the opportunity to showcase their ability to deliver technically demanding live events encompassing the breadth of their audio visual services.
For the elaborate production, 56 buses transported attendees to Barangaroo on Sydney’s Harbour foreshore, being greeted with a raft of performers including stilt walkers, 7m high vertical performers, bouncing kangaroos and lifesavers, five-person water ski formations in neighbouring Nawi Cove and a petting zoo featuring cuddly wombats, koalas and joeys.
Intriguing tunnels led guests to the vast event space, The Cutaway, a unique cultural venue that Staging Connections decked out in elaborate décor and world class AV technology including enormous 60m x 12m digital screens that featured projections of Australian landscapes and large illuminated backdrops.
Custom printed Amway napkins and engraved napkin rings surrounded native flower centrepieces on the highly decorated tables. A VIP procession highlighted award winners, with 14 couples driving into the gala event in seven vintage Mustang convertible cars. The audience was then wowed by a vast array of entertainment that filled the evening.
The event concluded with a 15 minute custom firework display with magnificent, giant fire letters from eight pontoons including two large barges on Sydney Harbour, all by Howards and Sons. The display outlasted the Sydney NYE fireworks which go for 10 minutes. The magnitude and excitement of the event was filmed by drones from the skies above.

Entertainment included a performance by seven aerial acrobats rigged from the roof by large hoops customised by Deonair, a Welcome to Country featuring a 40 strong cast delivered by Decendance and the NSW School Aboriginal Dance Company, and a magical dance performance by Soul Mystique was backed by Staging Connections’ customised animations.
Haley Westenra, direct from England, performed songs in English and Mandarin as the finale for the evening, with 16 supporting dancers who were hoisted to the ceiling on trapezes with enormous silk sales hung below featuring projected designs.
Organisers of the Amway Taiwan incentive heralded the event a major success.
