The finer details
Inspired by a major event he had attended in Barcelona, Simon Walker, Staging Connections Auckland, proposed a central circular stage and a series of LCD screens to create a total wrap-around audience experience.

The execution
The stage and the awards themselves were the centrepiece of the event and had the added benefit of keeping the walkup distance to a minimum. The table layout surrounding the stage created a sense of intimacy that was enhanced by a series of warm lighting states. 55 LCD screens suspended from exposed truss made a spectacular framework and created an inclusive environment giving everyone full involvement in the awards presentations.

Challenges
Award nights often present sight-line challenges but the ‘inthe- round' format meant there was no back row - everyone had excellent visibility.
